Buying and Selling

Buying Questions

Q: How do I place a bid? A:

  1. Browse auctions and find one you like

  2. Click on it to view details

  3. Enter bid amount (must exceed current highest)

  4. Click "Place Bid" and approve in MetaMask

  5. Your bid is recorded on blockchain

Q: What's the minimum bid? A: Must be higher than the current highest bid. First bid must meet or exceed the starting price set by the seller.

Q: Can I bid on multiple auctions? A: Yes! Bid on as many as you want. Your funds are only locked if you win.

Q: What if two people bid the same amount? A: First bid received (by blockchain timestamp) wins. This is why bidding early can help.

Q: Do auctions extend if I bid at the last second? A: Yes, last-minute bids may trigger a time extension to prevent sniping. Check auction rules.

Q: How do I know if I won? A: You'll see the auction in your Buyer Dashboard under "Won Auctions" with delivery instructions.

Q: When do I receive my item? A:

  • Image auctions: Instant NFT to your wallet

  • Digital auctions: Download link appears in dashboard

  • Physical auctions: Seller ships within delivery window

Q: What if the seller doesn't deliver? A: File a dispute with evidence. Your funds are safe in escrow and will be refunded if the seller fails to deliver.

Q: Can I get a refund after confirming? A: No, confirmations are final. Only confirm after thoroughly inspecting your item.

Selling Questions

Q: How do I create an auction? A:

  1. Connect wallet and go to Profile → "Create Auction"

  2. Choose auction type (Image/Digital/Physical)

  3. Upload your asset to IPFS

  4. Set starting price, duration, payment currency, delivery window

  5. Pay platform fee and submit

Q: What can I sell? A:

  • Digital art, photos, graphics

  • Files, documents, software

  • Physical items you own

  • Illegal items, copyrighted content, dangerous goods

Q: How do I set the price? A: You set a starting price. Bidders compete, and the highest bid wins. Research similar items to price competitively.

Q: Can I edit an auction after creating it? A: No, auctions are immutable once created. Double-check everything before submitting.

Q: What payment currency should I choose? A: Choose based on what you prefer to receive:

  • ETH: More universally recognized

  • TBASE: Alternative option, same value on testnet

  • Pick one - you can't accept both on same auction

Q: When do I get paid? A: After the buyer confirms delivery OR the delivery window ends (auto-release). Funds sent instantly to your wallet minus 5% platform fee.

Q: What if the buyer doesn't confirm? A: Funds automatically release to you when the delivery window ends. No indefinite waiting.

Q: Can I end an auction early? A: Only if there are no bids yet. Once bids are placed, auction must complete.

Q: What if I can't deliver the item? A: Contact the buyer immediately via dispute chat. Admins may issue refund. Failing to deliver damages your reputation.

Physical Item Sales

Q: What delivery windows should I set? A: Based on shipping method:

  • Local pickup: 3-7 days

  • Domestic shipping: 7-14 days

  • International: 21-30 days

  • Custom/made-to-order: 30-60 days

Q: Do I need to provide tracking? A: Highly recommended! Tracking protects you in disputes by proving delivery.

Q: What if item is damaged in shipping? A: If you packaged properly and have proof, buyer's dispute may not succeed. Use insurance for high-value items.

Q: Can I require signature confirmation? A: Yes, mention this in your description. Adds extra delivery proof.

Q: What shipping methods are allowed? A: Any legitimate courier service (USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.). Specify in description.

  • Images: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG

  • Documents: PDF, TXT, DOCX

  • Archives: ZIP (for multiple files)

  • Check file size limits during upload

Q: Will my image be public? A: Preview/thumbnail is public. Full high-res version only accessible to winner via NFT or download link.

Q: Can buyers resell my digital items? A: NFTs from image auctions are transferable - buyers can resell. Digital files may be shared (harder to control).

Q: How is the NFT created? A: Smart contract automatically mints an NFT to the winner's wallet when an image auction ends. No manual action needed.
