Fees & Refunds

Platform Fees

Q: Why do I have to pay to create an auction? A: Platform fee (0.0006-0.0013 ETH) covers IPFS storage, smart contract execution, and platform maintenance. It's far cheaper than traditional platforms.

Q: Can I get platform fee refunded? A: No, platform fee is non-refundable even if auction doesn't sell. It covers real costs (storage, blockchain).

Q: Why is success fee 5%? A: Covers escrow management, dispute resolution, and platform operations. Compare: eBay (13%), Sotheby's (25%), Heritage (20%). AstaVerse is much cheaper.

Q: Do buyers pay any fees? A: Only gas fees (paid to blockchain network). No buyer premium or hidden charges. What you bid is what you pay (plus gas).

Q: Why are gas fees variable? A: Gas prices fluctuate based on network demand. We don't control this - it's set by blockchain validators.

Refunds

Q: When can I get a refund? A: Refunds issued when:

  • You're outbid (automatic instant refund)

  • Seller cancels auction (before any bids)

  • You win a dispute (admin orders refund)

  • Auction has critical error (rare, admin decision)

Q: How long do refunds take? A:

  • Outbid refunds: Instant (seconds)

  • Dispute refunds: Instant after admin decision

  • Blockchain processes: All refunds are immediate

Q: I was refunded less than I bid A: Check:

  • Gas fees are separate (not refunded)

  • You may have been partially outbid multiple times

  • Check transaction history for details

Q: Can I get a partial refund? A: Only through admin dispute resolution if both parties agree or evidence supports compromise.

Payment Issues

Q: Why can't I bid with TBASE on this auction? A: Auction only accepts ETH (or vice versa). Sellers choose one currency per auction. Check payment method before bidding.

Q: Can I pay with credit card or PayPal? A: No, AstaVerse is decentralized and only accepts cryptocurrency (ETH or TBASE on Base Sepolia).

Q: What if ETH/TBASE price changes? A: On testnet, prices don't matter (no real value). On mainnet, bids are locked in crypto amount, not USD value.

Q: Can I tip sellers extra? A: Not through platform currently. You could send extra crypto directly to their wallet address separately.
